Sony's Playstation 4 finally gets a much rumoured price cut

After several weeks of rumours and speculation, and even predictions of a price drop from Microsoft, the Playstation 4 has finally been given an official price cut in the UK and Europe.

The PS4 was recently given an official price cut in North America, and prior to that, in Japan, so it was only a matter of time before the UK and Europe saw a price drop as well. The UK and Europe price cut comes just one day after the Playstation 4 received a firmware update and an new application in the form of a Twitch app.

The 500GB version of the PS4 console can now be purchased at £50 less than its original price from high street retailers, for a more competitive price of £299.99, which should help Sony snap up a larger portion of the late-adopters in the run up to Christmas.

Amazon currently offers a better deal on both the 500GB and 1TB versions of the console (both without any games), or for a small amount more at £309.99 you can get the 500GB version bundled with "Destiny - The Taken King" or with "Batman: Arkham Knight" for only £319.99.
